We like to joke that our story started with equal parts timing, luck, and a shared love of saying “yes” to life. We met later than some, but right on time for us — two people with full chapters behind us, plenty of life experience, and a clear sense of what we wanted next: joy, partnership, and adventure.

What made it even more special was that Chris had been dreaming about this lifestyle for over twelve years — retiring aboard a catamaran and making a floating home his next big chapter. He saw the Great Loop as the perfect shakedown cruise — a way to test the systems, refine the setup, and learn exactly what living aboard would really feel like.

Pam came in with a different background: a couple of cruise ships, a handful of small sailboats, and thousands of miles in a small RV — but nothing like the scale or rhythm of long-term life on the water. And yet, once aboard, it was immediate. The peace of the water, the joy of the journey, and the freedom of simpler living made it clear that this was the perfect next home for her too.

If you’d like to meet the rest of the crew — Oreo, Biscuit, and Scottie — and learn more about Chris’s journey to the water and how Pam continues working while living aboard, head over to our About Us page for the full story.

Future loopers enjoying following your adventure. Curious about the catamaran you’re cruising on.

Hi Mark, Wildfire is a 2012 Leopard 44. The mast was removed for the loop and we liked the easy bridge clearance so much that we decided to figure out how to stay short. This year we have installed the Wingit kite system and will be sharing videos soon of how that works to replace maintain wind powered sailing options with a much smaller footprint.
